IMAGINATION LIBRARY
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
When did you first learn to read? Was it before or after you entered school? Can we help prepare a child to read? Lafourche Education Foundation has taken a bold step to foster an early love of books for children in the Lafourche Parish.

In June 2015, Lafourche Education Foundation secured funding to bring Dolly Parton Imagination Library to Lafourche Parish to improve childhood literacy. These funds allow the library to enroll children from age 0 to 5 in this nationally established program. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library mails a book every month to enrolled children until they reach the age of 5. By the age of 5, a child could have 60 books. With the cooperation of families, these children are introduced to reading at a very early age.

Today, more than 700 children in our parish are enrolled in this program. Will this improve childhood literacy? By receiving books at home, these children will have a reading advantage! Additional funds are needed to expand current enrollment. Your donation is important to us, but even more so to our community where improved childhood literacy will benefit our future in Lafourche Parish. The Foundation is committed to supporting our five-star library. It is evidence of the five-star community where we live. Will you consider becoming a partner in this effort?

Your support will directly provide our children with a step-up on reading. Not only will they become library patrons, but they are also the future workforce in our community.
We look forward to a partnership with you for this life-changing opportunity!
